I live in the UK and I started my first patchwork quilt in 1971. Over here at that time I didn't know anyone else who loved quilts or made them, but around the mid 90's it really look off and fabric shops opened up. I am married, have 3 grown up children and 5 grandchildren and a wonderful sewing room(At long last) My husband and myself love travelling and I usually manage to find a town with a quilt shop in it. As we love travelling to the USA my perfect quilt shop would be next door to a bar that did Buffalo wings. My husband would be happy to sit there for ever while I perused the store. Any recommendations would be welcome.

My ipad in it's new cover

Posted on September 28, 2012 at 2:43pm 0 Comments

Going away for the weekend I have made my ipad a new cover. It is constantly in and out of my bag and the cream leather is getting a little dirty. While I was busy sewing I had already begun to plan it's seasonal 'outfits', maybe a pumpkin for October and some special for Christmas,

I don't think it's quite what Apple intended for this marvellous piece of technology and I don't think that it will catch on with the guys in the City but it's great fun to make, and so easy, although my…

Trying to find a quilt shop in France.

Posted on August 12, 2012 at 2:44pm 3 Comments

Last weekend my daughters family were in a car crash in France. My grandson Joe was airlifted to hospital in Nantes with a seatbelt injury to his sternum. I flew out immediately from England to take care of Sammy 5 and to support the family, with my husband following later in his truck to bring back their belongings. I am writing this because I cannot praise enough the French hospital, the love and support that we have all received from the French people who have patiently understood the… Continue

Very happy to be asked and of course honoured to accept.

Just back from England & Wales, got in 2 this morning - just finished unpacking and walked with Bruno, my choc lab., missed him so much - itching to go to my goodie bags now in my sewing room, brought back from NEC "Festival of Quilts".   Went for one day - could have spent the week- so much to do and see.  Met some lovely people there too.

Called in to see the Pormerion "village", can remember the series "The Prisoner" only too well -  and had a coffee set (years ago) made by Susan Williams Ellis, the daughter of the designer and visionary who built this amazing tourist site.   The weather on Monday was more than soft and we were soaked, must go back to see it in its full glory.

Have missed MQP too, as no Wifi at my relatives - lots of reading to do.

Just read the above blog.  How scary an accident in another country.  Sounds like the French are not nearly as rude as their reputation. Why do we have to label eachother. Hope all continues to improve.

Just dropped by to see if you were going along to the Festival of Quilts next week.

Sorry to hear that you have all been through quite an ordeal this past week, heartwarming though to find that you were all looked after so well and cared for by Nante Hospital, and that Sammy is well on the way to full recovery.

Hope you find a good quilt shop, you must need a little retail therapy, heals a lot of what ails ye and you are definitely in need of reward.  If not, NEC will surely have what you need too!!!

Safe journey home and best wishes to you all.
