Hello Deb, welcome to MQP.  Hope you enjoy the site.  There is a lot to see, things to inspire, fun groups to join (I see you found one) and friends to meet.

Hi Deb.

Yes I belong to the Guild when I am in Weslaco from Nov. to March/April.  I have won several miniature appliques.  I live at Trails End in Weslaco which is a senior park.  i belong to the Heritage Bee as well that meets twice a month at the Girls and Boys Club across from the Library...........2nd and 4th Monday of the month.  We have a good sized group.  We did the opportunity quilt a few years ago.  Your profile meets mine almost identically.  I love applique and have now branched out to try some new techniques.....freezer paper and starch which is used by a lot of the pro. appliquers and more machine applique (trying to make it look like hand work like the instructors say it can but I haven't achieved that yet.  From a distance it is okay but up close I know).  Do you belong to the guild and a bee.

In Canada I do not belong to a guild as we are about 60 miles from one and I never seem to be in town when they are meeting.  And I have no one to go with which is also a good excuse I suppose.  We have a small quilting group at our community center and we make a raffle quilt (raffle not opportunity in Canada) every year to help support the center.

Thank you for your message and maybe we will meet next winter at Guild.  Do you take any of the guild classes.  I have signed up to the ones in Nov. and Dec. that Alice Gibson talks about every meeting.  Marilynne
