Keeping Myself in Stitches

After a great lapse of time, the opportunity arose in which I was able to pick up several messages in this train of written thinking from many people living in many areas of this country, and Canada.  All very enjoyable.  It has been my conclusion that quilt artists have more avenues of creativity than do the artists who paint on paper, or on canvas. Tools to use by quilt makers of today in their quilt making weren't even thought up merely a few years ago. Quilting had taken a back seat when…

hi dana, just read one of your recent responses re: a quilt you had featured in a mag several years ago. i was trying to remember the other day, the name of quilter i met here on mqp and exchanged comments w after i joined. i am thinking it was you. unlike me who has turned this site & my membership in it, into my go to place during work breaks or times just too fatigued to do anything else but hang out and read/exchange comments/quips, you drift away for long spans of time. hope not due to health issues. hope it's creativity times. anyway, came to your page to see if you have posted any of your quilts yet. you haven't.

:((

oh well.... always love reading your comments.

hi dana...posted a response to your ...did i find it...query. took a bit...fist mozilla crashes then start all over...but it is a lovely quilt...prob one of the prettiest i have ever made..tho the most technically flawed. what with clearing brush - windfall & dead trees and monster sized sagebrush growing in the 'garden'...overgrown fruit trees, grapes...just a yard/grounds gone wild...house and irrigation in serious needs of serious repairs...broken lines / charred fireplace mantle etc etc...and no where to work...concentration frequently flagged...but "got 'er done!"  lollollol

Welcome Quilter Friend!

Just wanted to pop in to say “hello” and introduce myself. I’m Linda Hubalek, fellow quilter and author from Kansas. Books about pioneer women are my specialty, with a cooking or quilting theme mixed into each historical fiction series.

My Trail of Thread in written in the form of letters sent back home while my ancestors traveled to Kansas. Each book mentions twelve old-time quilt patterns, and I put drawings of them in the back of the books.

So if you like to read—besides quilting—please enjoy my blog and book excerpts on my website. Besides printed as paperbacks, my ten books are also available for your Kindle or Nook.

I have about a dozen quilts made by my great grandmother, (that we used all the time when I was a kid) so I’m into antique quilts and patterns. What kind of quilts and patterns do you like to work with?

Happy quilting and reading!

Linda Hubalek
