Rogue - While I'm pretty savvy with a computer, so far I am resisting getting a smart phone - because I basically use a phone to phone people - and so I didn't worry about connectivity with smart phones and other devices.  Maybe go there, but not yet.  You won't see any quilts you haven't seen - but they are there to provide potential customers with an idea of what I do - which, while it probably isn't unique, is fairly unusual.  Hopefully get enough business to keep me in fabric, and provide an excuse to upgrade my equipment!

Thanks, Rogue - sounds like I need to try the blog thing.  Never quite know what to say - but I'll give it a shot.

Sleep well!

hi kathryn - one last note then hubs & i off to Land of Nod. he up at 3a me @ 5a .. but i was telling him all about your exciting new venture. i have been wowing him w your quilts for quite a while :)) . but the timing is good i think. he just got home from his annual trip to see his dad and as many of his old friends and blacksmithing buddies as he can. the one in klamath falls has started a blog for sales. just like you. he has posted photos of objects he has made in past ans some he has currently. then he talks about them in his blog. he said that people read the blog, go look at the pics amd then contact him. he said he has had requests for custom iron work from as far away as australia, canada & all around the USA. like you, he does on request or commision. doesn't have an inventory to speak of unless a few things he has made for fun or experimenting. he has gotten his dragons up to the level of incredible. i haven't seen him since we moved here, but i always loved the things he made w dragon heads, so hubs too some pics for me and wrote down the website. just had to share this tonight, i've got a lot going on tomorrow and afraid i would forget. i guess i am getting a little excited for you and your venture :))!!

and that's a great idea about the roadside warnings. hubs & i have written down license plate number when we see people dumping bags of trash along side road...a call number to notify patrol about phone users would be good too

i don,t see an issue selling one of your own incredible designs made in patriotic colors. there are hundreds, thousands of vets ---like yourself for instance, that aren't on any list that will be turned over to QOV for a quilt. so, if a family wants a custom quilt, especially one that incorporates the insignia or whatever from the beloved military persons uniform ..whatever. i don't think it would be frowned upon by QOV organization. you have given them over 20 beautiful quilts, last i checked, & i know they donate fabric and patterns. been to the site a few times :))... but i have also seen custom made quilt photos on the net made w insignias, uniform fabric etc...all things that are personal and mean so much to vet & family. go for it!

Rogue - You know, I thought about the QOV thing - but if anyone wants one, all they have to do is ask QOVF - and there's no charge.  So don't think I'd feel right selling them - though I might put gallery of them there just so people can see them, and maybe a link to the QOVF page.  Sorry to hear about your car accident - and know what you mean - though I only have a cell phone - no land line anymore - it seems when I really need the darned thing, it's home in the charger.  I've been thinking about sending a suggestion to the DOT folks to make the 1800-Litter number a 1800-Using Cell PHone While Driving number so you could turn in the scofflaws!

yes, i recognized the portion of one of my favorite quilts fr when i first "met" you here on MQP. i don't have a smart phone either. i spent years chained to a phone, on call 24/7/365(6) as an ER & ICU nurse. i have a landline and a dumb phone. i heard my style of phone that has no net connect, doesn't take photos, or any of the miriad things a smart phone does, called a "Dumb Phone" & fell in love w the term! i only bought a cell phone to carry for road side emergencies. and of course i didn't have it w me when i was hit by a speeder using her cell phone instead of her brains. little tiny car came w/in few hundred dollars of completely totaling my truck. & i had no phone w me :((. it will take time but you'll get your site up & running and it will be beautiful. you have a great start. you could probably add a blog section to discuss your work, let potential clients get to know you a bit beter. i didn't know that company provided web services. we have gotten business cards from them, good quality and good prices. so...good luck. your quilts will sell them selves..they are so beautiful. you might also tell about your work w QOV. there are sooo many vets & their families. someone might want to honor some special fam member w a custom designed quilt.
