I followed the tute and my mitered corners turned out awesome--they lay flat! The only thing my class teacher suggested is to press both seams to one side instead of pressing them open. She demonstrated why by pulling gently on the seam. When it is pressed open, it looks a bit gappy. When the seams are both pressed to the side, it doesn't do that. I'll lay this top aside now until the school year is over and my sister can help with the quilting. Once it's finished, I'll post a picture of it on her bed, or maybe outside where it can be seen better than on my floor.

Meantime, I'm going to start practicing free motion quilting on some of the smaller tops I've made. This is going to be fun!

hi teckla...we were in portland this weekend ...i completely exhausted myself w my two grdaughters -- running, wrestling, and "hiking thru the magic forest" in their backyard ornamental trees and shrubs. was easier on little short people than short tubby out-of-shape big gramma ham lollol.

i have been catching up on news too! also posted a couple of pics of my bd fabric shopping excursion at Fabric Depot! YAAAAAYYYYY!!! do you ever go there? i am so jealous...you are so much closer than i. it is 4 1/2 hr drive for us. we only once a year on one of our visits to the gr girls. hit it on our way back home. prob don't shop as effectively as i could if rested instead of exausted.. but i don't stop to shop on way down, want to get to my little ones ASAP!! lollol

which coastal community/beach/park area did you all go play in? i do miss the ocean...grew up near it...and i so miss it sometimes.

ok...when you & i are all caught up on comments & pics amd new members pages etc...i will ck back now & again to see if you have posted a pic of the quilt top yet! :))

Hi, Rogue

Got sidetracked by an unexpected weekend at the coast this past weekend. Great fun and time with my sister, bnl, niece & her dh! Walking the beach and climbing rocks--way too much exercise for this tubby body of mine--took all week to recuperate! LOL! Will get a shot of the queen top as soon as I get a chance. Then again after it's quilted, although that won't be for several months yet. Now to catch up on the news and comments!

don't you just love a hobby that always has something more to learn!   I have watched different videos on how to miter corners, but I haven't tried it yet.   But I will..........I will!!
