and they all went to new homes and lived happily ever after!

I am still at my family's in Chicagoland so I can't upload any photos yet but I thought I would let you know how the selection came out.  The quilts were phenomenal hits!  The recipients were unbelieving and once it sunk in that they got to take one home, they dug in with relish.  A couple quilts were coveted by two families but only one could have them and it all worked out in the end.

In order of how they were selected, here is how it shook out:

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy day after big T day to everyone. I no longer feel like a beached whale. My husband made the best turkey, so moist and flavorful. I love having a husband who loves to cook! I made the stuffing and my Chip (the hubby) made the veggys. I also made individual peach cobblers for dessert. Today we got the Christmas decoration out and I put a new wreath on the front door. We are cutting back on decorating this year and the tree will have only santas on it. My 60+ year old ceramic tree is on…

Anyone have an Accuquilt Go

Hubs just bought me one for my BD. Something else I get to learn how to use. Looking forward to doing alot of piece work, just not all the cutting. Was wondering how everyone who owns one likes them, or not.

Baby Quilt

Recently my mother-in-law gave me baby/young children's fabric scraps. She was unsure of what to do with it and it was in very odd shapes. I cut it all into 4.5 inch squares and made a crib size quilt. I lined it with teal solid fabric and tied the quilt.  I have not tied a quilt in 30+ years!! I asked a town administrator friend about making a donation to a women's shelter. I do not know who will receive the quilt, but I am so very proud to donate to the less fortunate.  Happy Thanksgiving…

The quilts and I are tossing and turning, might as well blog!

It is a beautiful snowy night in Southwest Pennsylvania and I am still up.  I have been tossing quilts and quilt bags on air dry with a damp towel in the dryer all night (I guess you could call me a fluffer) and I am about half way through the 15.  I will finish the rest later today after work (it is 1:30 AM right now).  I did try going to bed but it just wasn't happening for me so here I am.

A few things have happened in the last few days that will have an impact on the quilt giving…

The last photo shoot for the quilts of 2013 - The Year of the Christmas Quilt by my sweetie husband George

This is a woman with a secret.  A secret about to get busted wide open on Thanksgiving Day.

Here it is the weekend before the big unveiling and I spent the morning outside getting ready for winter.  I stacked all the porch furniture on the front porch with the exception of the white rocker I rescued this spring from the neighbor's trash which I brought inside…

Anyone suggest a Good Iron?

I am going thru Irons like there is no tomorrow! I currently have a Rowenta, I love the steam power, but it leaks horribly. It is the second one I have had to do so, and it is not a cheap iron. I bought a Sunbeam iron for 30.00 and after a few months of use, It sat there and just burned up one day, full of water, and still burned up. Luckily I was right there to pull the plug. Anyone have good luck with an iron or are they all simply throw aways anymore?

It's all done but the paperwork

Tonight I finished the last details on the last quilt and they are completely finished!  I have started inviting a few close friends and fellow travelers over to see them before they leave town.  Karen came this weekend, Chris and Becky came tonight.  Monday night next week I will throw them individually (with a damp towel) into the dryer to get all the cat hair and lint off and then pop them into their matching bags (which I will also have tumbled in the dryer) and they won't come out again…

Mito Quilts of Hope Charity

I am looking for quilters who would be interested in making quilts for children and adults suffering from Mitochondrial Diseases. Children who have Mito often don't live past their teens. Adults can develop Mito at any age and it often brings about multi organ failure and early death. Please help me give them warmth and comfort and increase the knowledge of this disease by helping make quilts. You can contact us at…

Words of wisdom

My daughter writes a blog Monday thru Thursday. It is about a lot of different things, her family, job, friends, and the focus of the blog : books. But today she wrote about seeing a halo around the moon about 5 this morning, but when she and her dog left for their morning walk, the sun was starting to come up and the halo was not visible. It reminded her of a line from the movie, Ferris Beuller. Thought I would share with all of you. It gave me pause for thought. "Life moves pretty fast. You… Continue
