Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
This is the third time I have started this blog post.
I have been a busy bee the last few days. Yesterday I was up early, and drove to Detroit to the unemployment office. Eek it is in a less than desirable part of town. Afterwards to two local quilt shops to look for batiks for my strip swap. While my favorite shop has tons of batiks it is a wee bit far and I just could not justify the drive. Anyway I think I did alright with my choices. Then since it was a beautiful sunny…

I had seen a red featherweight and was reading about them and complaining I wanted one. I kept looking at them on ebay and could not justify paying the amount of money for them they were going for. I had other obligations but maybe later on down the line. Being the spoiled brat fiance that I am, Honey bought me a featherweight off of ebay about the time of our one year anniversary and while I adore it, I hadn't even sewn on it until just a few days ago.
My honey and I…Continue
Bonnie Hunter over at Quiltville's Quips and Snips is posting a mystery quilt. From what I understand she does it on a yearly basis. So being home and all I thought hey that sounds like fun. The first post was in October with a list of the fabric colors, and the yardage needed. http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2012/10/find-yourself-on-easy-street.html
let's just say that my stash was missing many…Continue
Shopped this weekend for fabric for my granddaughter's wedding quilt. She's getting married in May, have to have this done by February. My friend and long-arm quilter, Vicki, suggested the pattern Take Five and was kind enough to up-size (is that a word?) it from twin to queen.
SO, since I was out of town and had a different fabric store to go to, I did! And I found all these great fabrics...what do you think? Lexi wanted a black and white quilt, with maybe a touch of teal or…Continue
With the holidays fast approaching, everyone is thinking shopping, Black Friday and bargains. So I love a bargain, in fact if I can use a 20% off coupon at the fabric store I'm happy. But when it comes to all that fast paced shopping, craziness, and five o'clock rush, no thanks.
I much prefer to shop on my own time and when I want to shop. Which leaves me plenty of time for quilting. For those of us who love to quilt we don't need a sale. Oh sure, I love a great fabric sale but not if…Continue
I have a move in my near future and it is time to sort what I have and perhaps get rid of a few things. Today, between the cooking and making great, yummy food I found some time to spend in my sewing room. I sorted a few fabrics, but spent most of the time going through my "crafty junk drawers." Yes, it is plural, I had several. It is easy to see where my priorities are today... in my drawer I found glue sticks, crochet hooks, knitting needles, velcro, various lengths of lace and trim, a few…Continue
Wishing all of my family and friends a wonderful happy day filled with love and good fellowship and yum yum food. For those that have to work, we are thankful, for all you do, and Walmart chose to stay open, they are having great sales but I chose not to do any shopping on this special day. We all know the ones whose job is mandatory and needed. And I believe that shopping is not.
I am so thankful for all the blessings I have and the love and new friends i…
Check out this beautiful feathered star quilt! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!…
I was thinking that I hadn't looked at many new blog spots the last few days, I have given my mother ideas, and sewed my little heart out with my wonderful charms from the Christmas Charm swap. Anyway I saw this block and just had to share the blog that it came from. There is even a tutorial on how to do it.
Check out the entry for…Continue

Just found out last night that my grandson's half sister (she is 12 years older than him and was raised by her great aunt) is living in California and she has seen my grandson off and on. I did not know that my grandson had contact with his 1/2 siblings. He also has an older brother. Anyway she has applied for and been granted kinship foster care. She is going to nursing college and is living with her biological father and his wife. I spoke with her last night and she has a good head on…Continue

Well, here is the middle of November and I am at 99 for the year. I have three customer quilts to finish, three Peppermint Twist orders to fill, and 21 more UFOs to get done all by end of year. God is good and He has not let me down so far. I know that there is an end to this task and I must stay on track to get there. I have so appreciated the encouragement and wonderful comments on the quilts I have completed thus far. Now to move forward some more.
I already threw out sort of a challenge but on Facebook from Today's Quilting was this post: Thank you to all our Veterans! Sign up with Operation Kid Comfort to receive fabric squares printed with photos from a family with a deployed service member: sew the squares into a quilt and then mail your gift to a child who misses Mom or Dad (asymca.org) What a wonderful way to say thank you. And if you would like to thank our military personnel there is always Quilts of Valor.…Continue
I was fortunate enough this morning to wake up in a wonderful bed, to beautiful sunlight peaking over the trees. I just knew it was time to move. Don't get me wrong I love looking at all the posts on "My quilt Place" peoples ideas, quilting problems, their finished projects, and I will admit I am envious of the ladies and gentlemen that seem to be so prolific in their projects they complete. I have 8 UFOs at least in my sewing room as we speak. One is my initial attempt at quilting 30+…Continue
Here is my suggestion for the week. I will admit my machine quilting is marginal at best. Check out this blog her quilting is exquisite greenfairyquilts.blogspot.com especially her entry for Tuesday, November 29, 2011. The quilt is wonderful!
I have been enjoying my time off while looking for new employment and getting my sewing room in order, catching up on my BOM, finishing some UFO and cleaning up my scrap pile. Anyway progress has been made, i have whittled down my pile of craft books, magazines to about half of the 3 boxes I found which I was extremely proud of.....until I started cleaning out the garage. Oh no 3 more boxes of books, a huge tote of scrap fabric but what a…Continue
This quilt pattern can be found on Lori Holt's Great Granny Quilt Along page. I love when designers are happy to freely share their talents with others!
I used up every bit of fabric I had left over from my Dresden Quilt that is hanging on the wall for…
