Come on over!

I am beginning to evolve my blog from being strictly quilting to other things that I am interested in.  Since this is a site mainly built for quilting, I want to invite you over to my blog

Hope to see you there!

I remember long ago

A cat as black as night.

With mischief-making kitty paws

And a little bib of white.

Whenever I would try to sew

She'd always grab the thread.

So I bought for her a feathered ball

So she'd play with that instead.

We had a favorite rocking chair

Where she'd curl up in my lap.

And every quilt I ever made

Was for her to take a nap.

I miss her still, that rascal cat,

With a coat as dark…

Knock Knock Knock Knock!

Anyone still out there?!!!!

It has been a long time in "blogland" time of me posting a new post here!

I just haven't been sewing much this summer so the blog has been on the back burner for some time now.

Plus summer is just busy here in Wyoming!  Everyone who lives here knows how short the summers are.  You try to get outside every chance you have before the cold comes again.  This summer has been full of gardening (not going too good this year), to Big Birthday trips,…

okay, who would I register a complaint to??   Time is just going WAY too fast!!   My grandkids are growing up too fast, the summer is going too fast, my youth went too fast and my middle age went even faster.   Come on, let's protest, we want things to slow down a little.   We slipped right from March to late August w/o even turning a calendar page, what's up w/that??   My car is nearly 10 years old and the house needs a new roof and I swear they were both new just a couple years ago!!  If I…

I love to read.   I love books, the feel of books, the smell of new books, turning the pages, sitting w/my feet up and just enjoying a good story.   I SO hope that books and magazines never go out of style.   I don't mind the Emags and the Ebooks, but I want the real thing for myself.   I want the libraries to stay open and the books to remain print on paper and I want to turn real pages.   I want quilt books, garden books and wonderful fiction..............books, books, books, books.

Thank you for your kind welcome

Thank you to Chef Lisa and Linda Hubalek for you kind welcome. I would love to see picture of the quilts other members are working on I think seeing other people's creations inspire us to do more or to try something different.

Your beautiful quilts

I have just seen a bunch of beautiful quilts on here. I am a very, very beginner compared to these quilts. You are all great.

Aussie First timer

Hi All this is my first ever blog! So be kind. I have been doing patchwork for  15 years and have figured that to complete all the ideas that I have for a quilt/wall hanging etc I will need to live until I am 120 years old!

I love colour and we should never be afraid of trying a colour that we have not used before - you may get a wonderful surprise. If you don't like it you can either give it to someone you are not particularly fond of, or you can reverse sew it out of the…

Chilis, chilis, chilis

Friend wins grand reserve at local fair

I have to brag up my friend.  She won grand reserve champion at our local southwest washington fair for a graduate quilt she made this year for one of our graduates.  He played basketball all through junior high and high school.  Here it is.…

Sunday, Aug. 18

Not a good beach day so my love and I will walk for 3 miles, then after breakfast and a bloddy Mary, we will move our extra stuff into a new storage shed, then applique on the Paradise Chili Co. banner. Should be a preseason football game today. And my Chip made Portguese Stew for dinner last night, so we will have great leftovers for dinner.  Good day with my honey!

Model 54 Kenmore Cams and Stitch attachment and feet

Every single thing that came with the machine, (even the stitch sample) except the ones that were on the machine when it was stolen...  can be yours for the price of shipping (about $20).

Please pass on this info to anyone you think would be interested.

It's been so long since I've been on this site, I don't even know if this is where to put this.  Please let me know if I've made a mistake.

I don't want to talk about it.  It's too painful and…

August already!

The weather is a bit cooler here, so we have been working a lot in the gardens. Time to move plants about to help them grow better. As for the sewing - I just gave three completed quilts and 4 quilt tops to one of the local guilds for their charity quilt programme. So is my UFO pile getting smaller? Nope. I still have lots of things to work on, and it seems that I don't have enough hours in the day. I was getting bored with working on the same old thing (which needs to be finished for a…

Pioneer Photos on Pinterest

I have a plastic tub full of family photos with dates starting around  the 1880s. The Swedish photographer B.G. Gröndal moved to Lindsborg, Kansas  in 1887 to set up a studio, and took family portraits for almost 60 years.

I know the people in most…

Aiming for Accuracy

I am currently participating in the AIMING FOR ACCURACY quilt-along project.  What a wonderful adventure this is!  Michele Foster has created a fantastic learning experience for the participants.  Michele's instructions, tips, techniques and recommended tools are top notch. Michele will be selling the completed project at the end of the QAL and it will be an invaluable class for shops or individuals.

Sunday morning

Steak, eggs, potato pancakes, and Bloddy Marys....ahhh, Sunday morning. Off to reunite with relatives from Germany for a BBQ later today. Could be a language barrier, but my wonderful husband will assist with that. I'm hoping to be able to applique later today. It is a good relaxing therapy before bed. Tomorrow will be a big quilting day. I must get the Paradise Chili Co. banner finished so it can be quilted. I am going to utilize a professional quilter for the first time. I have machine…

Capistrano Quilt -- First Success

I have begun the art quilt for my sister.  I wanted to depict two doves flying away from a fountain in the courtyard at Capistrano.  I decided to put steam a seam on chunks of batik and cut that out to match birds I had created.  I also need to do this with bells and some flowers that haven't yet been determined.  I'm really happy with the first dove--his other wing will appear tomorrow.  He will require careful needlework once I get there, but I'm really pretty happy with it so far.  I've…

Serving Others

I think this description is in my "Quilt Place" album of photos, but just in case it isn't, I'll repeat it here because it's a really great story of God working through youth and quilts...

Our amazing Christ the King youth go on a Group Workcamps mission trip every summer. For one week, each of our youth is assigned to a different work crew that does home repair work for a resident who can’t do the work for him/herself, whether for physical or financial reasons. This year they went to…
