If you're a REAL quilter, you have at least one UFO (unfinished object) and one WIP (work in progress) stashed in the closet or stacked on a shelf. Maybe you just need quilting suggestions, or maybe a fresh eye from a new online friend can help with block arrangements. How about a UFO swap? Any UFO conversation is welcome.

we could use your down poir riana!! we drove to yakima this morning, as we got into town & the smoke from surrounding wildfires was so thick you couldn't see the mountains around town or even across town. drove home tonight and as we reached the top of last hill before our place i noticed smoke across the valley below us. wind is gale force, smoke is very bad, we can't see flames but this is another fire somewhere in valley across the river from us. going to be a long night ...i worry.

Carol, you are only 3 hours away from me!! I now live closer to Warren/Youngstown which is near the Ohio/PA border. You are having better weather than we are. The summer started out extremely wet and much flooding. Now we are so hot and humid and the ground is sooooo dry that it's cracking. I can't even start digging the flower beds because it's so hard. I don't have a hose hookup yet so I can water. Last week the nights started getting cold...but then it is mid August. We even have trees starting to drop leaves.

I agree with Rogue's HO. The black looks the best. Blends nicely.

I got one block done for my Loyal Union Sampler yesterday. Only one block but it wasn't an easy one. So I am officially working on a UFO now. I saw a good deal in an email and ordered a kit for a king size quilt yesterday. I'm planning on staying with the LUS but plans are only plans. I might be tempted when the kit arrives to start cutting fabric.

Some of you are really having a tough time-- heat, humidity, and fires. I'll keep you in my prayers for your safety. We're having a mild summer. Cool mornings and pleasant afternoons. It's nice.

dee ..your crockpot story is funny, but we know he's right. i used to put on pot of beans & head to work, worried whole shift and the next about going home to nothing but smoke & cinders. and even now, i onlyuse crock pot if i am home & i come in frequently to check it. but, it is sad situation w your chickies & the heat. i'm sorry you've lost some. hope the weather breaks for you soon.

i was out most of day digging & moving dirt in high temps, high humidity & so much smoke from wildfires in every direction, even the "neighbor" mt adams is ablaze! decongestent tonight so i can breath enough to sleep!

Riana ~ I could do the same, but living with someone who worked 911 for so many years, that is a reason to have a 'fire' in his eyes ... so there's my answer.  For years I was not allowed to use the crockpot while I went to work either.  So, I only use it when I am home during the day or overnight while he is at work.  hahahaha

Hoping to catch some meteor shower tonight so will sew 'eat' on and lay down for a while.  Sucked up a lot of hair and spider webs .. even squashed a few spiders tonight ~~ guess I should do this more often  hahahaha

Zoe ~ I have EQ7 and I challenge myself to draw blocks all the time to see how they work together ...

And Beth is an awesome quilter .. let'see .. civil war quilt .. grandson's big boy quilt .. my latest log cabin .. am I forgetting any ?  There will be more .. she's finished with her UFO list and needs to make some more   hahahaha

Riana Noyes,

No I never found it. I guess it's just a square in a square with sashing? I really had no plans for it to be so large, but I guess I will leave it at that...I will think about it, at least I figured the pattern

Years ago I would never have tried to figure out a pattern by just looking at it.

Dee, so sorry your elder hens are suffering from the heat so. My mom's had the same problem one hot summer...she ran an extension cord to the enclosure & ran a fan for them.

Zoe, that's an interesting block. Did you ever find out the name of it?
