Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
Looks like more fun, cute, quilts, Wilma. Carla I can see some of the quilting. It is going to be lovely. Mary, nice sewing area. looks like more room than I have in mine. But I have 3 tables that take up a lot of room. One for my cutting and ironing, one for my small machine and the other for the embroidery machine and unit.
Zoe, I am glad I upgraded my sewing machine. I like the larger hoops more than I thought I would. The hoops work nicely with sweatshirts.
Went to meet friends at Highway Q and spent Saturday afternoon with them. Arrived home again early evening but to late for me to get anything done. Today I did hand sewing on some hexies. Tomorrow I will get going on the star quilt again.
I'm very proud of my ducklings this week. A couple have been busy with non related tasks, but after all, family needs come first. The thing to remember , though, iscbalance. Those who neglect their own needs run into trouble...the batteries need recharging.
Carla, can see some of the stitching. Lots of relaxing under warm folds when hand quilting. I still hand quilt special projects.
Mary, any brightness you might lack is more than made up for in the lovely colorful block you currently feature in your hoop.
I have the same oval hoop ( it came in stand, but l prefer it out). Larger size quilts are done with the square snap frame of pvc. It 's about 2ft. x 3ft.and 29" high. So l must sit in my wing chair to quilt on it. The room l have that chair in only gets late afternoon sun. I only quilt in sunlight. Lamplight of any kind is hard on my eyes for quilting.
Linda, it is O.K. to rest up. I'm working on my Pansy Quilt and won't go back to my PhD challenge quilts until it is finished. I want to keep up with you! LOL
Carla - that's lovely fabric!
Linda - that's more work than put into making most of my own foods! Lucky dog. I know your care for him is a labor of love, and he loves you right back!
Wilma - the pumpkins are adorable, and your leaves are lovely. I particularly like the bluish one on the bottom left. I, too, have a quilting project going, a cable afghan. It gets worked on sporadically, lol.
Gail - here's to a winning season for your favorite baseball team - and lots of quilting time!
Mary - your sewing room is wonderful. The 'not so tidy' chair in the living and the table next to it look like mine, lol! Happy stitching :)
You all are moving along. Wilma I love your quilts. Looks like you have a great size sewing room, Mary.
I did manage to sew one row together yesterday. My shoulders and back are hurting today so not getting much done. And, I have to cook Indy's food for the week today. Praise God for inventing crock pots! I still have to shred the chicken when it's cooked, boil eggs, and make the rice. Then cook it all in the crock pot with the veggies. Takes all day.
Well Riana you may just have to take my word. You can't see this at all but there is quilting in here....slow as she goes!
Thanks everyone. Yes, chugging along. Also finished a hat and on the thumb of last mitten for another group who sends wool items to orphans in Russia (I am trying to use up my wool/mohair yarn). When finished will post a picture. Have made 20 hats in January using up yarn which I will save and donate later this year.
The Among the Leaves quilt is actually colored with crayons and heat set when finished. Started this in mid-2000s in Hawaii with my sister-in-law....she still hasn’t finished hers. The hardest part was taking time to do the hand embroidery. The pumpkin quilt is from a swap on MQP in 2018 or 2019.
Mary, you have such a nice work area. I used to have one of those “giant” hand quilting hoops, but my hands always hurt. When I have a chance and get caught up, I have a couple of small quilts that I want to try to quilt on my embroidery machine with my larger hoop. Watched a couple of videos on how to do this process, but know I will have to “refresh” my memory when I am ready to start.
Tidy sewing room with tapestry undercover, Don Quixote quilt start under paper to the right on ironing table, and two knitting projects( to be finished in Aug) in baskets.
Not so tidy chair in living room with quilt and two more knitting projects (to be done by the end of February). Paul's accident has helped the quilting project, as I'm not bright enough to work on the socks.
Gail, Kris, and Elizabeth you are amazing.
Wilma, you're just chugging right along, both beautiful quilts. I hand quilt so mine will take a long time. When the top is done the hard work starts for me but it is very relaxing when I am able to do it. I'm hoping that will be soon. Most of what's on my list are projects needing to be quilted, only two are needing the tops done. Three more blocks to be finished one one of them and the other is a t-shirt quilt that is waiting for one more shirt before I can decide where everything will go. I will use t-shirts and some orphan blocks in it.
I guess everyone is ready for the Super Bowl, I'm not a football fan. I am a life long baseball fan and a NASCAR fan. Racing starts in two weeks as well as Spring practice for baseball so I'll have lots of TV time to quilt.
Great work Wilma! You'll get lots of stitching in during the game...be sure to feed him at half time so you don't get interrupted later, lol. My hubby's not a football fan, but l do get in time when he's off to baseball practice .
Wilma, you are just moving along! Both of your tops are really unique and artful.
I'm enjoying your quilts as I have my morning coffee. I'm off to the pool afterwards.
Finished the embroidery on the last square of the Among the Leaves quilt (#4 on my list). Have the backing, etc., so tomorrow will send an email to a long armer so it can be quilted. The pumpkin quilt is also ready to go to quilter (#2 on my list).
Nothing new to report. Have first border ready to apply to Winter Memories and will work on second border. After we return from mom’s tomorrow and hubby is stuff to Super Bowl TV, I will work on quilt. Hope ir is ready to go to quilters...have 1 more ready to go also and maybe tonight I will finish embroidery on the “crayon” quilt. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Kris your quilt is beautiful. So many squares.
lovely block, Liz.
16th block done. I started sewing the quilts with the extra 4 bloc...
Kris, so beautiful and so many blocks.
that was a lot of work and all beautifully done. I love your sewing room, so much space.
Riana, love your "Ducks in A Row", very cute. I am trying to spend a little time each day doing some cross stitch embroidery on some dish towels, little ducks.I have to keep my arms close at my sides so I only do a little at a time.
