I'm just so enjoying the interactions that we can swap hair cutting - its all about the community of quilters-my sisters-in-a wonderful obsession.  So if I have to make a mug rug then I will.  I agree, I would rather swap fabric.  And I have been in a couple of block swaps at my guild.  Believe me when I say that 8" means different things to different people.  But bring it on.

Patricia, mug rugs are kind of like small potholders or large coasters.  I've seen a few blogs doing those swaps (I only heard of mug rugs recently).  And yes, it would be for potholders (or blocks or whatever) that we've made.  Of course I've never made a potholder either!  I'm not much of a sewer!  My preferance is to swap different fabrics, but some people love swapping blocks.

I would love to be a part of your swapping-but I don't know what you mean by a mug rug swap.  And when potholders are mentioned are we talking about ones we make?  But whatever the swap is I'm game.  Hey we can swap scraps.LOL!!

A few ideas for anyone who wants to host a swap...batiks, specific colors, solids, stripes, polka dots, theme, mug rugs, patterns, bags (easy for those of us who are learning to sew!), blocks, quilting threads, books, buttons...that's all I can think of for now!

Thanks, Diana, for starting this!

I think this group will be great, once we figure out where everything is in here...lol. If you have some swap ideas...how about we leave them in here and i'll make a list of them??

I think Starting a new discussion for each diff. swap is a good idea. Like you said.....we can keep them organized then. Then all we have to do is click on that discussion to let the host know who wants to join in.

anyone who wants to Host one...just leave a comment in here ok?

thank you ladies

I'm wondering how this will work...should each swap be listed in a separate discussion so they don't get mixed up?  And will the host be the one to make the rules for that particular swap?  I like the idea of a set rule list, but not everyone likes to use the same kind of fabrics, so probably the host should set the rules.  What do you think?

Lets say I wanted to do a mug rug swap...would I put a discussion for "Mug Rug Swap" and everyone wanting to do it only post under that discussion?

I'll get too confused if there are 5 different swaps going on and the discussions getting mixed up!

Just curious as to what you have in mind.
