Hi, I'm new to this group and want to introduce myself, but it's actually easier to point you to the Background page on my blog: http://denacrain.com/blog/background.

Although I'm not doing a lot of quilting at the moment, I have worked extensively with foundation piecing. I began, probably like many of you, using some freezer paper. I could not source that in Kenya, and once foolishly paid the equivalent of USD $75 for a roll of it from South Africa! Funnily enough, I still have most of that roll.

Lacking any other substitute for freezer paper, I turned to fusible interfacing, and never looked back!

Anyway, I'm here and I'm looking forward to following your discussions and sharing  experiences. I recently published a video on YouTube that shows how I used fusible interfacing as a foundation for a Crystal Quilt, Emerald.I doubt I can embed a video here, so I just give you the link for it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wevNjM_0-Dw&list=PL-PvCq7Sv2VtA...

Made from silk dupioni, I used the interfacing to stabilize the fabrics before cutting, and then used a second layer of interfacing as the pattern for the quilt. I hope you will enjoy seeing the video, and I will be pleased to answer any questions you might have!

Thank you for letting me join you; I look forward to participating in your activities!

Dena - in Kenya, where the refrigerator just broke down for the third time in a week!

Has anyone made the wall hanging All Around Town by Country Threads?  Would love to see a picture.  I am trying to pick out fabrics.

Danielle, what is an "envirobake sheet"?

Faye, I really like your bags. That is exactly the style I've been looking for. What was the pattern?

Doreen, that's very pretty. Can't wait to see it finished.
