When I was a kid, I loved when we went on road trips because my Dad would always stop at Stuckey's (Restaurant/ Truck Stop) and buy me a snowglobe of the places we had visited.  I had dozens of them at one point in time, but over the years they were lost or broken.  However, I always think about them, even today, whenever I travel somewhere.

Some people associate snowglobes with winter and Christmas time, so this is going to be 2 swaps in one.  You can participate in either one or both, if you like.  Since it will take a little longer for those who might want to do both, you will have until the end of February to get your blocks to me.

SWAP RULES:

Blocks should start out at 13" x 13" so that the receiver can trim them down to 12 1/2" x 12 1/2".

Stuckey's Road Trip blocks can be on any color background, but the globe itself should be a recognizable destination or landmark.  Even though it may not have a name on it, as my sample does, something about the piece should give us an idea of the locale.  (ie. Cablecar - San Francisco,  Grizzle Bear - Yellowstone) It can be where you're from, where you live, or some place you have on your bucket list.

Winter/Christmas block are to be on White or White on white/ off white backgrounds.  The globes can be anything related to winter or Christmas, and the more glitter or sparkly the prints, the better.  Birds, Angels, Santa, Penguins, just about anything.

Make 12 blocks, send in 11, get 11 back.  You can either send a self-addressed, stamped return envelope, or to make it easier, you can send a check for $7.35, and I will send them back to you in a flat-rate envelope.

Thanks, Kathy.  I am looking forward to that, too.

I'm not going to be able to participate.  I'm going through cancer diagnosis and tests and I have no energy.  I'm sorry.

So sorry to hear that Judy.  Praying for quick turn around on tests and strength for you, patience and caring from family and friends.

I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis, Judy.  Please take care of yourself.  I will be praying for the things Melanie mentioned, too.

Judy, I completely understand.  It is my sincere hope that everything goes well for you and that you are able to join us for another swap in the near future when you are feeling better.  You are a wonderful swapper and your talents will be missed on this swap.  Take care of yourself, and know that we are all praying for you.

Judy-My support and prayers go out to you too.

Kathy, I am ready to send my snow globes.  Since I am in two groups, should my enclosed check be for twice the amount?

I think I should be able to get all of the blocks for both into one envelope, so just send it for one.  Thanks

Thanks you!

Well, I am almost done, but won't get my blocks in the mail until Friday.  So sorry, Ladies - this one snuck up on me!.  They should be there Monday.  I will send Kathy the tracking number when I get the package in the mail.  Can't wait to see the other blocks everyone is doing - I'm thinking of making placemat sets since there are just a few of us.  Maybe one wall hanging/table topper.

What do you all have planned?

Placemats is a good idea.  I made a runner that included one of my snow globes... whenever we get them I will probably decide then.

I am thinking that if we don’t get more takers for this swap, I will put the Christmas globes in with the travel globes and make a wall hanging.  Then with my left over globes I will find another project, probably placemats or runners.  Nevertheless, my fingers are crossed that some folks will join us.  They really don’t take long to make and are fun to design.
